Health and Wellbeing policy
Cancer Council WA has developed a template policy for health and wellbeing for the whole school community. It aims to replace those policies that just sit in a drawer and are never looked at!
Schools can adapt the policy to suit their local needs. While it focuses on nutrition, sun protection and physical activity, and includes elements that are needed to be a Crunch&Sip and SunSmart School, schools are encouraged to include other priority areas such as mental health or drug education.
The policy integrates three areas: curriculum, teaching and learning; school organisation, ethos and environment; and partnerships and services. It also includes guidelines on how to develop and implement the policy.
